- | ====== Projects Administration======
- | |||
- | The Project Administration page is where you create new projects and upload data associated with those – see Figure 12.
- | |||
- | Figure 12: Project Administration main page.
- | The page also shows existing projects. Projects and their content can be edited or deleted on an individual base – use mouse-over in the project overview (Figure 12) to access these functionalities.
- | Informative note: Projects created will show up in the Projects Map (example in Figure 4). Data added to projects will be available for download as described in section 3.1 - The Projects Map but will not be visible in the Data Map.
- | Creating a new project
- | By pressing “Add Data” (Figure 12, upper right corner) the user is guided through several steps to create a project and to upload associated data.
- | Step 1 – Project Details (Figure 13)
- | Give the project a name and add description details.
- | |||
- | Figure 13: Project details.
- | Step 2 – Geotag your data (Figure 14)
- | Zoom out in the map and place the red pin on the desired position by drag & drop. Alternatively,
- | The extent of the project is defined by the user defined bounding box. To position the bounding box, drag & drop the two red squares (defines corner coordinates for the bounding box), or add corner coordinates manually.
- | After the above steps, save the project. The bounding box will now show up (example in Figure 15). Red pin can now be re-arranged.
- | Add the EPSG value of your project.
- | |||
- | |||

- | Figure 15: Saving project creates bounding box in map.
- | |||
- | Step 3 - Access Level (Figure 17)
- | Access levels are administered by the GeoCloud administrator and/or I•GIS and can be set on different levels.
- | |||
- | Figure 16: Access Level.
- | |||
- | Role based access. | ||
- | The Role based access gives access to multiple users. There are two access levels:
- | • Regular User: Read, download
- | • Administrator: | ||
- | Regular users and Administrator refer to the access level defined on the Data Administration page (see below).
- | The access levels for individual users can be set in the User based access section (Figure 17, right part):
- | |||
- | User based access | ||
- | • Read: | ||
- | • Download: | ||
- | The names on the list is based on users invited by the administrator(s) – see Figure 18.
- | Invite new users and manage existing users (administrators only)
- | Administrators can invite new users and manage existing ones. This is done on the Data Administration page / Users and are described in further details in section Add 3) – Users.
- | |||
- | Figure 17: Data Administration page. User administration is accessed by pressing the “Users” button (red box).
- | |||
- | Figure 18 shows an example from a GeoCloud portal. Existing users are listed showing the full name, User Name and email address. New users are invited by pressing the green button (“+ Invite Users”).
- | |||
- | Figure 18: GeoCloud users. Access levels.
- | |||
- | New Users: | ||
- | Press the green button (“+ Invite Users”). The window below appears. Add email address and optional a message.
- | |||
- | Figure 19: Invite new users.
- | Press “Finish” and an email is sent to the selected email address. The email includes a link to create a password for the GeoCloud access.
- | |||
- | Existing users: | ||
- | In the Actions column, there are 3 options to change access levels and roles to existing users:
- | : Assign User Role (Administrator or Regular user).
- | : Send Password Reset Link (allows users to create a new password).
- | : Delete existing users (Remove user).
- | |||
- | Step 4 – Files upload (Figure 20).
- | Files on your computer can be associated to the project by select and upload.
- | |||
- | Figure 20: Select and upload files.
- | |||
- | File formats handled includes DAT, DBF, DOC, DOCX, GSMOD, ID, MAP, MDB, PDF, PRJ, RAR, SBN, SBX, SHP, SHX, TAB and ZIP. See Table 1 for more information.
- | After file selection press “Start Upload” and upload begins. Uploaded files show up on the “Uploaded files” list - Figure 21.
- | |||
- | |||
- | Figure 21: Files uploaded. Notice the jpg file (Figure 20) did not upload because of wrong file format (jpg instead of bmp. To upload jpg, you will need to zip the file.
- | Additional images can be uploaded to be shown on the Projects Map. These images serve as front images on the Projects Map – see Figure 23.
- | |||
- | |||
- | Figure 22: Select and upload images.
- | |||
- | |||
- | Figure 23: Images uploaded and visible on the Projects Map. The 2 images uploaded previously (Figure 22) shows up when clicking on the image in the red box.
- | After saving the project, it will appear in the Projects Map with a bounding box and a red pin in the map window and listed in the projects list to the right.
- | |||
- | 3.4 Data Administration
- | The Data Administration page is the control center where data which should be visible in the Data Map and accessible in GeoScene3D are uploaded. It is important to notice that data uploaded via this page differs from data uploaded and associated to projects on the Projects Administration page.
- | To summarize the main differences:
- | Data on Project page: Original data files of any kind and file format associated with a user defined project. Data are not shown in the Data Map or in the Projects Map. They are associated with a Projects, which is defined by a bounding box and a red pin. By clicking on one of those, the original data files can be downloaded again.
- | Data on the Data Map: GeoCloud-specific data types and file formats, which are uploaded through an upload wizard and behind the scene is written to a local database hosted by I•GIS. Data are visible as points, shapes, or grids in the Data Map, and can be used directly for further use (geological modeling, display on cross sections etc.) in GeoScene3D Portal version.
- | |||
- | Users are added and administered at this page as well – see also section 3.4 -Data Administration / Invite new users and manage existing users (administrators only). The main page is shown in Figure 24.
- | |||
- | |||
- | Figure 24: Data Administration page.
- | |||
- | Basically, the page gives you 4 options, all available from the menu to the left or by clicking on the blue icons:
- | 1. Data | ||
- | 2. File Upload | ||
- | 3. Users | ||
- | 4. Materials | ||
- | |||
- | File formats | ||
- | |||
- | Table 3 shows the different file formats handled by the GeoCloud Data Administration page.
